IPL 2014 Sehwag Century KXIP Will Meat KKR,Beat CSK By 24 Runs

IPL 2014 Sehwag 58-ball 122 from earlier in the day looks like an everyday sort of innings. Suresh Raina seemed to be batting in a trance that was slowing down time, and slowing down cricket-ball action film.Chennai Super Kings were 100 for 2 after six over’s. It was the highest Power play score in Twenty20 cricket. Suresh Raina was brilliant on 87 off 25 balls.

With Chennai Super Kings' bowlers feeding him a juicy, back-of-a-length diet interspersed with full-tosses (they bowled 17 in all), Sehwag raced along at a strike rate of over 200, outshining all of his teammates in the process. Manan Vohra only scored 34 out of an opening stand of 110, Glenn Maxwell 13 out of a second-wicket stand of 38 and David Miller 31 out of a third-wicket partnership of 63.

When du Plessis took a difficult diving effort at extra cover to send back Sehwag Kings XI were 211 for 3 with 11 balls to go. It was the third time in three matches this season that they had crossed 200 against Super Kings. For the third time, their batting firepower set them up for a comfortable victory. For six unreal over’s, though, their total looked glaringly inadequate.

The direct hit caught Raina well short Run-out could end Suresh Raina innings from George Bailey. Having brought on Karanveer Singh, the leg spinner, and having brought the field in to deny Brendon McCullum the easy single, Bailey himself was called on to capitalize on the batsman's over-eagerness to bring Raina back on strike. Bailey sprinted hard to his left, picked up the ball, transferred it to his throwing hand, and released a hard, flat throw, all this on the turn.

The direct hit caught Raina well short. The throw broke the wicket, and broke the spell that Raina had cast over the game. Having scored 100 in the first six overs, Super Kings could only manage 102 off the last 14, and even a customary last-ball six from MS Dhoni.

He had reached his fifty in 16 balls, and become the second-quickest to the mark in the IPL, That happened in the sixth over, in which the unfortunate Parvinder Awana - went for 33, in a sequence that read 6, 6, 4, 4, 4 (no ball), 4, 4.

They also made a couple of tactical decisions that were, in retrospection, questionable: Ravindra Jadeja and David Hussey walked in ahead of Dhoni, who finally came in with 87 required from 47 balls, with too little firepower left in the dugout. The task proved well beyond an out-of-sorts Dhoni in the end.

The evening had been lit up by Sehwag second IPL century. Coming towards the close of a season in which he has steadily gathered form, the Sehwag who burst upon the Wankhede came extremely close to resembling the Sehwag of his peak years, hardhearted on the smallest amount of width, sneering against the spinners, and equally capable of stinging power and cheeky placement.

Chennai Super Kings thrill Win by KXIP

Raina resumed his love affair with Chepauk on Thursday night as Chennai Super Kings equal Royal Challengers Bangalore record of 7 succeeding IPL wins with a thrilling triumph over Kings XI Punjab.
Raina 53-ball, unbeaten 100 ultimately prevailed over the late counter-attack by lefties Shaun Marsh (73) and David Miller (51*) that took Punjab to the doorstep of what might have been a famous chase. But the pair, having joint for 95 in just 8.4 overs, ran out of ideas with the visitors needing 19 off the final over, bowled by Dwayne Bravo.
Raina hits out
Raina came in at the fall of Wriddhiman Saha and was merciless against the smorgasbord of bowling available for consumption. A majority of his 6 sixes came against the pacers Manpreet Gony and Praveen Kumar were both hit scornfully back over their heads – and the spinners, leggie Chawla especially, were smashed through the leg-side.

It was a rare failure for Chennai super star MS Dhoni, who was run-out for 2 soon after Hussey, was stumped off Chawla, but Raina Nonstop rained hits on the park without close. The Ghaziabad lad reached 3 figures in the last over, in just 53 balls, and powered Chennai to a total that proved beyond the reach of Marsh and Miller dramatic counter-attack.

Crucial win Chennai super kings

CHENNAI: There’s something about Chepauk, something in the wicket, in the rich air of this Southern city that disallow visitors to leave with their beloved result, despite having been accorded a king’s welcome.

On Friday evening, Deccan Chargers realize as much. Having confined the home team to 160 after M.S. Dhoni selected to bat, the Hyderabad team had their nose in front in the 1st half of the chase, only to finally lose the stumble upon by 10 runs. Suresh Raina was Man of the match for his all-round show - a 24-ball 32 and the crucial caught-and-bowled of Kumar Sangakkara.
Chargers were going big guns before the customary Chennai vicissitudes performed a volte face, turning the match around in the time one may well mouth ‘Krishnaswamy Kasturirangam’. At 77-1 in the 11th over, the basement dweller was most likely eyeing a much-needed third win of IPL-V, when the reversal began. The well-set Shikhar Dhawan was run out by a trait of fate, as Cameron White’s full-blooded drive ricochet off the bowler (Bravo) and on to the non-striker’s stumps.
8 runs later, Suresh Raina pulled off a one-handed wow of Kumar Sangakkara, and suddenly the position for Chargers was no longer paved with pansies. It was left to the 2 Aussies – Cameron White and Daniel Christian – to get their side the 55 they needed off the last 4 overs. But knowing the venue and its point treachery to chasers, the task was a climbing one. White mainly played the lone hand with his 53-ball 77 – a remarkable innings on a stroke-unfriendly track - and struck controlling blows against the million dollar wastrel Ravindra Jadeja, but was run-out going for a go-getting 2nd run.
White’s the sack signaled the end for Chargers, as Hilfenhaus came on to bowl the final over with 20 compulsory for an unlikely win. Although Christian nick a boundary on the 1st ball, Chennai emerge victors by 10 runs, setting their war back on the same track as the previous two seasons, which had also demand an almost not possible backs-to-the-wall curative action from them. Earlier, on a wicket where winning pace off the ball was paying dividend, Chennai posted a spirited 160, thanks to Faf du Plessis (42), Suresh Raina (32) and Dhoni (34).
The total resulted as Chargers dropped several catches – 2 each of du Plessis and Bravo (12, 4b), and the hosts maintain a constant run-rate of around 8-an-over.The lone eye-sore for Chennai was, once again, the miserable form of M. Vijay, a batsman who when on song harbors the possible to destroy the most excellent bowlers in the business. With any luck, Vijay will come excellent when Chennai needs him most, maybe in the knock-out stages – if the defensive champion makes it that far.
